Kranslegging Seremonie

‘n Kranslegging word beplan vir Jeugdag, 16 Junie 2013, om die slagoffers van die Westdene busramp van 1985 te herdenk. Ons moedig almal aan wat deur die ramp geraak is om die seremonie by te woon en die 42 kinders wat op 27 Maart 1985 hul lewens verloor het, te herdenk. Die verrigtinge word by die Westdene dam gehou en behoort binne ‘n uur afgehandel te wees. Die geleentheid sal deur die burgermeester en Mr. Ahmed Kathrada bygewoon word. Blomme sal voorsien word aan diegene wat aan die kranslegging wil deelneem en ‘n ligte ontbyt sal bedien word. Die program kan hier afgelaai word.

Wreath-laying ceremony

A wreath-laying ceremony is planned for Youth Day, 16 June 2013, to commemorate the victims of the the Westdene bus disaster of 1985 . We encourage everyone touched by the disaster to attend the ceremony to commemorate the 42 children who lost their lives on March 27, 1985. The proceedings will be held at the Westdene dam and should be concluded within an hour. A light breakfast will be served. The function will be attended by the executive mayor and Mr. Ahmed Kathrada. Flowers will be provided for those who would like to take part in the wreath-laying and a small breakfast will be provided. The programme can be downloaded here.

    Ons het net tans van Bloemfontein af getrek na JHB toe. My pa het daar Ophthalmologie klaar gespesialiseer. Ek was toe in graad 2. Ons was oppad na ‘n atletiek byeenkoms. Nuut in JHB was alles nog vreemd. Die bus ramp nuus het die hele JHB geskud, dit kon my bus gewees het wat in die dam in gery het. My ma se rooi gehuilde oë was ‘n bewys hiervan aangesien sy gedink het dit was my bus. Ek het 6 jaar later by Höerskool Vorentoe st. 6 begin. My hart en gedagtes gaan uit na vriende en familie, wat geliefdes verloor het.
